Small AI glossary

The idea of intelligent automata already exists in antiquity, classical and medieval eras. Charles Babbage & Ada Lovelace worked on programmable mechanical calculating machines from 1822–1859. Alan Turing published 'On Computable Numbers' in the year 1936, laying the foundations of the modern theory of computation with a machine of 'computability', the Turing machine. Today, machine learning uses algorithms to parse data, learn and make predictions or determinations.

"AI is the theory and development of computer systems capable of performing tasks that historically required human intelligence, such as recognizing speech, making decisions, and identifying patterns. AI is an umbrella term that encompasses a wide variety of technologies, including machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing (NLP)."[1]
