Four days left to Save the Data

"Late Friday night, Congress passed a last-minute, short-term resolution to prevent a government shutdown that gave us one more week to fight for crucial government transparency websites like Data.gov, USASpending.gov and the IT Dashboard.

This resolution expires at the end of this week. We expect that a budget resolution to fund the government for the rest of this fiscal year will be introduced in the next day or so — and to prevent a government shutdown, it must be signed into law by Friday at midnight. We have only four more days to make sure Congress doesn’t cut the programs that let the American people hold our government accountable.

In the last two weeks, we’ve built incredible momentum to protect the programs supported by the Electronic Government Fund, including these key websites, but time is running out. We need to spread the word and increase the pressure. We made a quick video to explain why cutting these programs is such a bad idea." Read more
